There’s no denying that Tuesday evening’s trip to the John Smith’s Stadium to face relegation threatened Huddersfield Town wasn’t exactly a shining moment for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo’s side put in possibly one of the worse performances we’ve seen since he walked through the door and the 1-0 defeat was even more galling as despite how bad we were on the night, it still took a stoppage-time winner from them to rip even a point away from us.
Although nobody should be getting carried away with the result given how good a season we’ve had as we continue adjusting to the Premier League level, the disappointment is palpable and in many ways, it should temper exploding expectations at the club. Or at least remind people we’ve a long way to go yet given our ambitions.
The usually reliable Ruben Neves was certainly one player who had a bad night and taking to social media to react to the performance, the criticism in his direction probably sums up the night better than my words could.

Even Dusty didn’t enjoy tonight. Time to send Gibbs-White out on loan, get rid of Costa & cash in on Neves (????) #WWFC pic.twitter.com/t6HO3nUjOh

What the hell has happened to Neves.

Yeah definitely. Dunno why Nuno brought Costa on with how he’s playing but everyone’s first thought is to always blame Costa when tonight half our team didn’t turn up ????

Also, a word on neves
He was a bottle job all night. Has been the majority of the season.

Neves had by far one of his worst games of the season aswell, all of the players were off their game tonight, shouldn’t be any excuses.
Roll on Cardiff at home, that’ll be a fun one. #wwfc

That's the game where you need a 2nd striker from the bench. Mad subs. Neves had an absolute shocker. Deserved exactly what we got. On to Cardiff #wwfc
