Mick McCarthy was on the receiving end of a spanking session from Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger at the weekend.

Not content with keeping that kind of thing behind closed doors, Wenger dished out the ‘slaps’ and ‘spanks’ in front of 60,000 onlookers.

‘They murdered us. From one to 11 they were better than us, stronger than us and quicker than us,’

‘I have to admire their class and the way they play. And for us to get better we have to admit we got turned over – we were completely spanked.’ McCarthy said to the BBC after the game.

The result meant that Wolves spend another week rock bottom of the Premier League table, with two crucial games coming up next.

First on Sunday the eagerly awaited fixture with the Baggies, swiftly followed by Blackpool six days later.

McCarthy continued: ‘We had a slapping. But we’ve got West Brom next week, that’s more important.’

Vital Wolves Comment: Win our game in hand against West Brom and we will leapfrog West Ham, Wigan and WBA, six days later another three points against Blackpool will see us gain at least another spot and hopefully put a bit of daylight between us and the drop zone.

Far easier said than done, but our survival could take a massive leap forward if it could be achieved.
