With Wolverhampton Wanderers enjoying a fabulous first season back in the Premier League after we stormed to the 2017/18 Championship title, head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is preparing for a second year in the top flight with European football on the agenda after we rose to seventh place in the table.

Next season we can welcome an old foe for a league doubleheader as Aston Villa (finally) won promotion themselves after almost going out of business last summer, as they took a 2-1 victory over Derby County on Monday afternoon in the Championship Play-Off Final.

Now, I love the ‘Mind The Gap’ nonsense that built up during their spell in the Championship as the banter kicked into high gear as we showed significant improvement after years of disappointment, but remembering one fixture in particular, some fans would do well to remember banter taken a step too far leads you to a fall.

I prefer to look at it another way, wouldn’t it be great if both sides had a proper battle moving forward and really put the Midlands on the map as a footballing powerhouse in the years to come instead of the constant harping about Manchester and London.

With that said, as they need to adjust to the top flight and we are 12 months easily ahead, I’ll go for four points – not the six 🙂
