The November international break is good one thing only it seems, just like every other international break now we see the usual and repetitively inane transfer speculation return and although it began with Leo Bonatini the other day, it didn’t take some outlets long to ‘refresh’ those seemingly baseless rumours linking us with Liverpool striker Divock Origi.

That’s exactly what the Mirror did the other day and it could be word for word identical to the last time they covered the speculation.

No change on the fee, suggested to be £20million and exactly the same justification as before, he’s not in Jurgen Klopp’s plans – although he has now made one appearance for the side in the Champions League competition so they can no longer claim he hasn’t featured once in 2018/19.

21 goals in 78 odd appearances isn’t too bad a record in fairness, especially factoring in his age as he has plenty of development left to do at only 23-year-old but unless Nuno wants to pivot to more of a big man set up in the starting eleven I really still cannot see us having any real interest. Especially if Liverpool want to double their money and they command that kind of fee, which I also can’t see as being that true owing to his performances for them and the fact he only managed seven goals in over 30 appearances in a recent spell with Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.

No doubt well see at least one more round of this speculation before the January window opens and then I’d fully expect it to shut without us signing him.
