Last night the odds on former Rangers boss Walter Smith dropped dramatically.
So much so that the 63-year-old former Scotland manager was quickly installed as second favourite behind Steve Bruce to become the next manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers after previously being a rank outsider.
In fact if you plumped a few quid on him a few days ago you could have been looking at a rather hefty pay packet.
This one doesn’t seem to be like the other media related speculations such as Roy Keane for example, this one appears to have some substance behind it with the Express & Star reporting that Wolves owner Steve Morgan could appoint him later today.
That of course has brought the odds down even further this morning and he is now the favourite for the position, with some bookies not even taking bets on him any more, a dramatic shift in less than 24 hours.
According to the E&S it was only Tuesday when Smith turned down the position, something that every candidate appears to have done at some stage, but a revised offer was apparently made last night.
Vital Wolves Comment: Walter Smith was such a rank outsider for the position that he was never even included in our front page polls asking who the next manager should be!
So we’ve published a new one to see what the Vital Wolves users think of his possible appointment.
