Matt Murray lasted just 23 minutes when he returned from a year out against Birmingham in the reserves league.

He was withdrawn as a precaution, but now the goalkeeper has had a scan on his knee to see the extent of any possible damage.

“He`s been for a scan on his knee but I haven`t had the results of that yet.’ McCarthy told the Express & Star.

He went on to add that there was no point in speculating with what the results will show: “There`s no long term fears as far as I`m aware, but we haven`t had the results yet. I`m not going to try to second guess it – let`s get the results first from the experts.”

Vital Wolves Comment: As he was only withdrawn from the reserves game as a precaution I would hope the scans will give a positive verdict.
