Sam Vokes’ arrival at Molineux was seen by many outside of Molineux as a ‘ one for the future’ move given his tender years.

But within the club, he was always seen as a player that would be challenging for a starting place from day one.

On Saturday when manager Mick McCarthy looked to the 18 year old to come off the bench and step into Sylvan Ebanks-Blake’s shoes, he more than rewarded his faith, executing a perfect one-two with fellow sub Chris Ewelumo before lashing an unstoppable volley past Plymouth ‘keeper Graham Stack to grab Wolves a well earned valuable point.

‘I’m buzzing with that, on my debut, to come on and make an impact like that is obviously really pleasing.

‘I don’t remember too much about the move to be fair, it just came to me and I tucked it away.’ he told the clubs official site.

Strength in depth is this years mantra, and the fact that McCarthy’s two strike subs made such a big impact only serves to back his argument up.

It also showed that no one can sit on their laurels these days under McCarthy, and everyones place is up for grabs.

Congratulations on your debut strike Sam, keep ’em coming son
