Wolves defender Stephen Ward is out injured for the next three months following surgery to repair his damaged cartilage.
It was previously reported that he would be out for around 2 weeks, but something that hadn’t shown up on the scan was discovered during the operation, which now means he is unlikely to play before Christmas.
‘He’ll be out longer than expected and it’s likely to be two to three months rather than two to three weeks.’ Head of Wolves’ Medical Department Steve Kemp told the Wolves Official Website.
‘The surgeon was very happy with the operation and Stephen will have some time to rest before coming back in to start his rehab.’
Vital Wolves Comment: Frustrating for the player and boss Mick McCarthy, but these things happen and at least it isn’t any worse than what has already been diagnosed.
