Wolves look set to reignite our interest in Reading winger James Harper
The 28-year-old midfielder travelled up to Molineux last week to discuss personal terms, however he left empty handed and returned to the Reading squad without a move back to the Premier League.
The clubs had previously agreed a £2million fee and now both the Reading manager Brendan Rodgers and Reading director Nick Hammond seem to be talking up the chances that a move could be resurrected.
Reading have already completed a major clear out at the club and the following quotes seem to give the impression that Harper could be next out the door.
‘James spoke to Wolves. He’s now back here. Things have gone a little quiet but we will have to wait and see.’ Rodgers told the Reading Chronicle.
He went on to add: ‘A fee was agreed and we gave him permission to speak to them. Obviously, Mick was at our game the other night and I think it’s getting towards that period in the transfer window when there is much more speculation. At the moment he is a Reading player.’
While also speaking to the Reading Chronicle Hammond added: ‘Mick McCarthy was at the game on Tuesday night. We spoke, but not about James Harper. We talked about pre-season and stuff. I suppose people will have to draw their own conclusions as to why he was there. But I will not be making any further comment.’
Vital Wolves Comment: These quotes certainly give the impression that Reading would quite like to cash in on Harper.
Should we bite? Is he worth signing?
