136 days, 9 new players, £18 million spent, Wolves summer dealings are now over.

We all knew that once promotion to the Premier League was assured, that Molineux would then witness dramatic change over the summer.

Gaffer Mick McCarthy and chief executive Jez Moxey have been linked with what seems like hundreds of new players since lifting the Football League Championship Trophy last season.

According to reports over 30 attempted transactions have been made, resulting in 9 new signings.

Nenad Milijas, Marcus Hahnemann, Kevin Doyle, Andrew Surman, Greg Halford, Ronald Zubar, Michael Mancienne, Segundo Castillo and Stefan Maierhofer have all joined Wolves over the summer.

“Hopefully we won`t have to buy nine players in one such short space of time ever again – that`s the objective because the idea now is that we`ve got a base in place to progress.’ He told the Express & Star.

Signing nice players, from all over the World logistically has been difficult and Jez added: “It`s been non-stop. We`ve signed nine new players, signed five existing players on new contracts, signed seven academy players on professional contracts and sold players such as Elliott Bennett and Stephen Gleeson.’

Along with those new faces, some have also left, while others failed: “We`ve arranged loans for Neill Collins, Jason Shackell and George Friend, not to mention the ones we worked on but didn`t come to fruition such as Scott Dann, James McCarthy and James Harper, which took a lot of effort.’

Vital Wolves Comment: On paper, the summer dealings look good overall, however the real judgement will not be made until the end of the season.
