The Championship season continued with the latest round of games played during midweek.

Cardiff, moving up to second, closed the gap on leaders Wolves – who didn’t play until Wednesday – to a point when winning at Barnsley.

Neil Warnock’s Bluebirds climbed above one of his former clubs, Sheffield United, into second, after the Blades slipped to defeat in a nine goal thriller at Bramall Lane – Fulham edging the win 5-4.

A point for Burton wasn’t enough to take them out of the bottom three; meanwhile, Sunderland’s loss at Aston Villa, remaining nicely placed to mount an automatic promotion assault, means the Black Cats remain rooted to the foot of the Championship.

On Wednesday, Middlesbrough’s win over struggling Birmingham – Blues remain just above the bottom three – took them into the top six.

Leaders Wolves extended their lead to four points with a comfortable win over Leeds, now down to 10th.

Here’s a round up of the Championship results.
