On Monday evening, former Wolverhampton Wanderers star Karl Henry announced his retirement from the professional game.

The now 36-year-old arrived at the Molineux for a £100,000 transfer fee from Stoke City back in August 2006 and he went on to make over 250 appearances for Wolves during his seven year spell and more than made his mark on the club, skippering us to promotion. Having moved onto Queens Park Rangers in the summer of 2013, he went on to play for Bolton Wanderers and Bradford City but we undoubtedly had the best years of his playing career.

With him hanging up his boots, Wolves took to social media to remind fans of one special moment.

Reaction from the fans was extremely predictable given the years of service he gave us and plenty continued to have fond memories of Henry’s efforts in our shirt. Be interesting to see if he maybe returns to the club in some sort of capacity as a youth coach now.
