Last night’s draw for the EFL Cup pitted Wolverhampton Wanderers against the winner of the clash between Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday later that evening.
Wolves have been drawn away against @SunderlandAFC or @swfc in Round Two of the @Carabao_Cup. The tie will be played the week commencing Monday, 27th August.

Wolves come into the competition at the second round stage owing to our promotion into the Premier League as Championship title winners in 2017/18 and we’ve instantly been awarded with an away trip in the domestic Cup.
With travel occurring to many with Cup games shoehorned into the midweek spots again this year, plenty had an immediate preference for a Sheffield tie later this month as opposed to a Sunderland based journey and some fans weren’t slow to come forward to make that point.
Agree. Canât face the prospect of Sunderland on a Tuesday night ????

Wouldn't be that for the cup, only rip people off for the league. Hypothetical though as we'll lose tonight ????

Fans were in a confident mood regardless of who we ultimately ended up with but that’s a testament to the spirit within the fan base of late given the progress of the club. As things turned out fans seemed to get what they wanted as Sheffield Wednesday took the game 2-0, so it’s a trip to Hillsborough at the end of the month.
