Plenty of Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have discussed the fact that Wolves Women will miss out on promotion this season after it was brought to an end due to coronavirus.
A decision was made that there will be no promotions or relegations between tier 3 and 7 of the women’s game. This means that the club will be denied of any potential promotion to the third tier after being nine points clear at the top of the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands, with seven games left to play.
The Athletic reporter Tim Spiers tweeted about the outcome earlier, stating how they had won 14 out of the 15 games they had played in the league that season, to which many fans got in response to.
Lots claimed there were “gutted” or “devastated” for the team that have missed out on this opportunity, while others understood there are “bigger things now” with the coronavirus outbreak.
Here are some of the replies below…
Gutted for the team!! But as a club we must build on what's been a great season – keep the players & management team and improve ready for the challenges ahead!

Seems very unfair and unjust. 100% footy is last thing to worry about right now but leaves a sour taste that hard work and efforts are in vain.

Shame!! But there’s bigger things now. Talents there so go again when they can

Totally devastated for them

Can you imagine the uproar if this was the decision made on the @premierleague – it’ll never happen and such a shame for the women who have been by far the best team this season

Hope it sets a president for the championship 😂

They have also announced that all football below the National League North/South will be stopped immediately and that the results will be expunged.
What will happen in men’s football above that level and women’s football at Super League and Championship level is extremely hard to predict.
