Wolves are in need of a new attacker to act as backup to Raul Jimenez – and they’re not having much luck in their pursuit for one.
With Patrick Cutrone departing earlier in the window, Wanderers turned to Greece to make an offer for Nelson Oliveira, however, the latest reports suggest that this deal isn’t going so well.
Greek outlet Page News (via Sport Witness) state that Oliveira could well be remaining with AEK Athens despite Nuno Espirito Santo’s side being very keen on bringing the Portuguese forward back to England.
The report states that Wolves have made a bid for the player in the region of €4m – €2.5m short of the player’s alleged release clause.
It’s claimed that the Double-headed Eagle expected the English club to come back with an improved offer, yet quite strangely, that hasn’t happened.

In fact, the source states that Wolves have no intention of increasing their offer for the 28-year-old – and that will simply mean that he will stay as an AEK Athens player, despite wanting a move to the Premier League.
Another Greek website, Tovima, has also reported that this deal is ‘stagnating’, according to Sport Witness – which could leave fans from the Black Country a little bit nervous with just a week to go before the window closes.
It might not be the most inspiring signing for fans, but there’s an argument that he has a decent enough record in front of goal to be a decent back up to Raul Jimenez if he was to get injured or need a rest.
So far this season, he has scored 10 goals in 20 games for his club, and while that’s not the level of the Premier League, it is still a good return.
In England, he has 31 goals from 103 Championship games, as well as one in 10 in the Premier League, so he could well be motivated to improve the latter of those records.
