On Thursday, Wolverhampton Wanderers announced that they had taken the decision to subsidise all tickets for our away trip to Fulham as a gesture of gratitude for those fans who travel the length and breadth of the country supporting the team.

Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo’s side head to Craven Cottage on Boxing Day with the festive round of fixtures in full flow. Boxing Day is never an easy away trip for any fan given usual public transport issues and, of course, football isn’t a cheap game with money tight for many, so even though the offer is only £5 off each ticket brought, it will help and the thought alone is thanks enough for most fans.

With the news confirmed plenty of Wolves fans took to social media to express their appreciation.

It’s a drop in the ocean to our owners and given the way the modern day game is from a financial perspective, but that’s not the point. It’s a fantastic gesture and whilst fans (rightly in my humble) feel taken advantage of and un-appreciated by clubs and broadcasters in particular (Fulham is a 12.30pm kickoff for Sky Sports), it is gestures such as this that do make a massive difference and I think the above comments show that perfectly.
