Despite interest from Chelsea and Man City, Wolves have managed to keep hold of one promising youngster, whilst on the pitch Ikeme strongly believes things will gel soon.

All the news of late appears to have been a bit negative.

A run of five points from five games has seen us slump from third in the Championship table to eighth.

Lost leads and negative tactics have been the main talking points. As our run of four successive wins becomes a distant memory.

But we’re only in the second day of November, just over a quarter of the way through the season, with a much changed team after a summer of shuffling the pack following relegation from the Premier League.

We haven’t reached our potential and yet are only four points behind the automatic promotion places.

“We have just had a couple of games where we have given away leads, But I don`t think that we are that far off from really clicking.’ Carl Ikeme told the Birmingham Mail.

He added: “Obviously we`ve had a few disappointments recently – the goal we gave away against Bolton in the last minute and then not beating Charlton.

“And I can understand everyone`s frustrations, really I can. It is grating for us players as well.

“But I am genuinely confident that this team is close to gelling.”

But while the majority of us are of course mainly focussed on the present, the future for Wolves is also important and there was good news on that front as well with Wolves teenagers Zeli Ismail and Jonathan Flatt signing new contracts.

Both Flatt and Ismail have signed new two-and-a-half year deals to stay at Molineux.

The news, especially when discussing Ismail considering the recent links with Chelsea and Manchester City are great news.

‘We are talking to several of our younger players at the current time and are delighted to have reached agreement with Zeli and Jonathan.’ Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey told the media.

‘It is the next stage along each of their respective developments, but it is just the next stage and they both know they need – and indeed want – to continue improving.
