With Wolves having a fairly thin squad and a lot at stake in two different competitions, many rued them for their lack of activity in the January transfer window.

A deal for centre back Edmond Tapsoba from Vitoria Guimaraes looked to be on the cards but reports from Inside Futbol state that they dropped out of purchasing the defender last minute.

We’re not in March yet, but at this very moment, it seems as if they have enough about them to compete in both.

However, they have been aided by the much-needed return of Willy Boly, who has made a serious impact on his return. In fact, since he’s been back, Wolves have played 450 minutes – and haven’t conceded a single goal, having to play teams such as Leicester, Manchester United as well as Espanyol.

With Boly returning just upon the end the January transfer window, it forced Nuno Espirito Santo to turn his attentions away from Portuguese centre half Edmond Tapsoba who played for Vitoria Guimaraes.

Should we have spent the money on Tapsoba?

Nope, right not to disrupt rhythm

Just 21-years-old, it’s said that Wanderers had a late move prepared for the defender, but they ultimately pulled the plug on the deal as they felt they didn’t need him. This was much to the joy of German side Bayer Leverkusen who managed to swoop in on the deal and add him to their squad.

The report claims he was being watched for six months by the club’s scouts.

In the end, he moved for a fairly juicy €18m (or thereabouts) deal.

Nuno’s side are said to go back in for another centre back in the defender.

Considering the club let Ryan Bennett go, it is still quite odd that they didn’t replace him. There’s no doubt that, considering Jesus Vallejo also went, that some more depth could be needed, but the club have a knack for not losing too many players for injuries, so they could be okay.

After making his big move to Leverkusen, they have no faffed around in getting him in the squad, already making three appearances for the club.

While it is hard to predict how a young defender will get on from the Portuguese top-tier, this lad clearly has a lot of potential, so they may feel like they have missed out on one there. Leverkusen already trusts him enough to start, which shows great maturity for a 21-year-old, but only time will tell to find out whether this was a mistake or not.
