Wednesday evening sees Wolverhampton Wanderers go into battle against Crystal Palace in the first Premier League game of 2019.

Fresh from the fantastic victory over Tottenham Hotspur in our last match of 2018, head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is obviously looking to build on that and hopefully see us rack up another top-flight victory to keep our good form going but speaking to Sky Sports yesterday during the build-up to tonight’s match, the gaffer was clear that for now we just keep focusing on each game as it comes and nobody in the group will get too carried away with where we might be come the end of the 2018/19 campaign.

“We can achieve a good training session, knowing that Palace is Wednesday. Every game, the approach is the same. The opponent does not mean anything regarding our approach. We have to go game by game. All the opponents, we take the same care and try to do the same things.”

He was also very clear that if we hope to achieve a better season than we’ve already had, we have to improve our form at the Molineux and make our ground a better fortress.

“The home factor of the competition is very important. We must improve at home. The schedule is so tight that anything can happen. We have to be ready and prepare ourselves for Wednesday.”

Whilst consolidation in the top flight remains the aim, everyone knows our owners have higher ambitions than that and if we can improve our home form, whilst showing improvements on the road we should be set up nicely for the future as we’re obviously not looking down the table as things stand.
