READING striker Kevin Doyle appears to have half the Premier League interested in signing him.
OK so maths has never been my strong point and it is really only a fifth, but that is still some hefty competition for Mick McCarthy to overcome if he is to persuade Doyle to come to Molineux in a record breaking £6.5 million transfer.
“Kevin Doyle is a quality player and all the players we`re talking to are quality players.’ Wolves owner Steve Morgan told the Express & Star.
“We`re still hoping to sign two or three. If someone like him becomes available, then we have to be interested.
“We had a number of players lined up for specific positions and we`re having very constructive talks with several players at the moment.
“I`d like to think we`ll make further announcements in the next week or two.”
Vital Wolves Comment: Ignoring wages, which will always either make or break a deal, looking at the clubs interested, I cannot see a reason why Doyle would choose Sunderland or Bolton over ourselves.
Fulham on the other hand, having finished seventh in the Premier League last season will be in this seasons Europa League. UEFA’s latest brainwave, which replaces the old UEFA Cup and Inter-Tutu or whatever it was called.
European competition could swing it, which would see us lose out on someone who looks like our main target.
