Games between Millwall and Wolves have always tended to be low scoring affairs, and this one was to be no different. The two sides stuttered to an uninspiring draw in a game where neither side truly dominated

Glenn Hoddle made 2 changes the side that beat Luton with Kenny Miller coming back to the side after suspension to replace Leon Clarke, and Darren Anderton in for Tom Huddlestone who has returned to White hart Lane.

Millwall came out of the blocks fastest with Marvin Elliot forcing a low save from Stefan Postma on 6 minutes. Postma faied to hold the shot, but Welsh fullback Rob Edwards was on hand to clear the danger.

Wolves fought to gain dominance, but with little effect.Millwall pressed forward and on 24 minutes Marvin Williams had an appeal for a penalty turned down, claiming a foul from Jo Lescott.

Shortly after Jody Morris earned a booking when, clear on goal he went down simulating a foul from Stefan Postma, but referee Clive Penton waved his protests away.

Wolves best chance of the half came from Mark Kennedy. Matthew Lawrence brought down Paul Ince on the edge of the D, but Kennedy’s freekick clipped Jody Morris on the edge of the wall, before hitting the bar and going behind for a corner.

Half-time: Millwall 0 Wolves 0

he second half started brightly, with both teams eager to assert themselves. After 10 minutes Kenny Miller had a shot blocked and the ball ran to Paul Ince who failed to keep his shot down, sending it high over the bar.

Soon after Mark Davies shot wide when he should have scored before Millwall saw a well worked freekick force a great save from Stefan Postma.

On the hour mark Lee Naylor replaced Davies as Glenn Hoddle switched Wolves to 4-4-2 in a bid to change the game.

Midway through the half Paul Ince again went close when his powerful long range effort was stopped by Andy Marshall.

Hoddle made another change on 72 minutes sending on Seol for young Mark Davies who combined well with Lee Naylor to cause Millwall problems down their left hand side.

Wolves were by now in the ascendancy and taking the lions share of posession. With minutes left on the clock Kenny Miller ran at the Millwall defence but he was imtercepted by Zak Whitbread and couldnt get his shot off.

Hoddle threw on Denes Rosa for Darren Anderton in the last minute, but he had no real time to make an impact.

Wolves have now slipped down to 8th, 4 points outside the play off positions, and once again leapfrogged by Cardiff City. It gets worse. Should Preston win their game in hand the points gap would grow to 7.

David Tuttle will probably be the happier of the two managers, but neithwill be claiming to be overjoyed as they travel to their respective homes tonight.

These are the games Wolves have to win if they are going to climb out of this division. But on this performance they have much work to do before promotion is anything more than an aspiration.

Fans will now look to the coming days for news of the much awaited new arrivals to add that little bit extra to a team that today, was at best, toothless.

On the upside, the defence held firm, and there is another clean sheet to add to the statistics. If they can just sort out the problems at the other end, they could still be in with a shot at the play offs.
Post Match Glenn Hoddle said
‘The draws are killing us. We have got to start turning these games into wins.A draw was a fair result. We didn’t do enough – especially in the first-half.’
