Wolves are one of a number of Championship clubs reportedly battling it out for Southend’s Jack Payne according to the Southend Echo.

Ipswich and Huddersfield are sides Wolves will have to battle with if we’re to sign Southend midfielder Payne, who is out of contract with the League 1 side this summer and set to leave Roots Hall.

The 21-year-old, who would earn Southend compensation wherever he goes, has bagged himself nine-goals from midfielder this season with him scouted by Wolves (and others) this season as far as the rumours go.

Not only would our Championship rivals be competition for the attacking midfielder Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam are also being linked with a move for him so he’s not short of options.

If we can sign him he’ll be a good addition to the squad, and someone who would add something in the attacking third, as he’s impressed me when I’ve seen him.
