George Friend has returned to Molineux after the Football League rejected Southend’s move to extend his loan deal.

The Express & Star have reported that an unpaid tax bill of £660,000 to HMRC has meant that the Football League have decided to block a move to extend his stay at Southend.

Since the 22-year-old joined Southend last month he has made six appearances and has even scored.

The move to Southend was Friend’s second loan move of the season following starting the season at Millwall.

Vital Wolves Comment: Big shame for Friend, as I keep repeating over and over, I`d much rather see a youngster out on loan than sitting in the reserves. Just a shame that the Football League doesn’t see it the same way.
