ESPN have reported that Wolverhampton Wanderers have turned their attentions to West Bromwich Albion defender Ahmed Hegazi.

Hegazi was somewhat impressive in West Brom’s failure to avoid relegation in the season of 2017/18. His performances showed he could be a dominant centre-half and was ready to battle with anyone, but there was clear signs of a lack of discipline in his play.

Hegazi has been on World Cup duty for Egypt in Russia so in some ways, with an ever-present tally in the Premier League last season, added to Russia exploits, he’s an easy go-to for this summer’s rumour mill.

With The Baggies dropping into the Championship this season, his future is in doubt and a few clubs have been namechecked with an interest in him – namely West Ham United it seems.

ESPN suggest we have now joined them in expressing proper interest and we could capture him for £10million owing to a release clause in his deal.

Fans are mixed though on whether or not he would be an improvement for us and a decent addition to the squad ahead of the coming season.
