Is Wolves appointment of Ståle Solbakken as manager a gamble?

According to owner Steve Morgan, not only is it a gamble, but its a brave risk to have appointed someone as manager with limited knowledge of the English game.

But he quantified the move by stating that he was also a proven winner with Champions League experience and that knowledge of football will mean that he will be a success at Molinuex.

“It`s always a gamble – of course it is, when you appoint any new manager – but we don`t believe that just because he`s not well known in England, that it`s a problem,” Morgan told the shropshirestar.com

The 44-year-old does hold an impressive CV, five league titles in Denmark with Copenhagen, winning the Danish Superliga in 2005-06, 2006-07, 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11, he’s also won the domestic Cup with Copenhagen and experienced the Champions League, before an unsuccessful period in Germany.

Morgan continued: “He`s a veteran of the Champions League, he has won lots of silverware as a player and manager and he will have money to spend.

“It`s only a brave appointment in the sense that Stale is not well known in the UK but he`s a legend in Scandinavia and northern Europe and his record ranks up there with the best.”

Vital Wolves Comment: Time will tell Steve, time will tell.
