Ståle Solbakken believes the addition of Jermaine Pennant will boost the options his squad holds.

With Slawomir Peszko, Razak Boukari and Stephen Hunt all injured, Solbakken was left with just Bakary Sako as our only fit true wide player in the squad.

Instead of contemplating which round pegs he could push into square holes, he moved to the loan market to snap up Stoke City’s Jermaine Pennant on an emergency three month loan.

The 29-year-old hasn’t featured much for Stoke thus far this season so an opportunity has arisen that suites both parties, especially the gaffer who wants to continue the progress his side have made through the early part of the season.

“There will be many ups and downs over the next few months but hopefully now we have a player in on loan, we can play people in their best positions most of the time, and we can get players back fit again,” Solbakken told the Express & Star.

He continued: “Hopefully we can build further on the training pitch so we can get better.

“It`s nice that we have progress – that`s the most important thing.”

Vital Wolves Comment: Wolves have course have won five of our last six games before the international break and we take that good form into the weekend.

Fingers crossed the break will not have affected the momentum and we can carry on where we left off.
