With Mick McCarthy gone, what happens now?

The Wolves Official Website‘s club statement ended with the line ‘The Club will be issuing a fuller statement in due course.’

Which hopefully means that we will be getting some answers soon.

What we do know is Terry Connor will take charge of first team training in the interim period until a new manager is appointed.

How long that process will take is anyone’s guess, while we have to ensure that we get the right man in, we have to also work quickly as the period that we are left in limbo could seriously harm our survival chances.

The transition from Mick McCarthy to the new gaffer needs to be as smooth as possible, we want to gain from the possibly uplift in moral, with players fighting for their positions in the hopes of impressing a new man in charge, but also we need to limit the disruption in a squad that was build by Mick McCarthy.

So who are the candidates?

As ever the bookies are quick to assemble a shortlist.

Alan Curbishley seems to be the short favourite with most of the bookies, while Steve Bruce would also be a candidate after his sacking at Sunderland.

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway is third favourite, although he seems unlikely with Neil Warnock and Rafa Benitez also recently seeing their odds shift.

So who would you be putting your money on?
