There were certainly a number of talking points created in last weekend’s clash between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United at Old Trafford as both sides played out a 1-1 draw on the day.

Fred opened the scoring for them, but Wolves battled back and levelled through Joao Moutinho’s first club goal and both sides had opportunities to add to the scoreline – with Wolves getting more on target than Jose Mourinho’s boys.

Club record signing Adama Traore reverted to the bench for head coach Nuno Espirito Santo once more, coming on again as a late substitute and whilst he certainly had another impact, fans weren’t wrong to pick out one mistake which shows he is still developing and has a way to go to reach his full potential.

The 22-year-old has a grand future ahead of him but as the above comments show, it’s constructive criticism that he should learn from. It’s also not new, this is what Aston Villa fans said, it’s also what some Middlesbrough fans have said, and he’s already shown improvement so I have no doubt he won’t continue to improve and next time he’ll make a better decision in the moment.

No player has 90 minutes of perfection, if anything, it just shows what we should have on our hands when he’s a little more refined and that should excite everyone.

I also included a couple of obvious Manchester United fan comments in there to show the other side, as in my humble, they were worried as by the same token they’d have once described Andrei Kanchelskis, Lee Sharpe, Ryan Giggs and Ronaldo as nothing but ‘speed merchants’ who were ‘greedy’.

If Traore replicates the first two he’s not doing too badly and if he replicates the latter two as he develops we’ll have to accept there will always be the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid.
