Michael Kightly, Christophe Berra, Stephen Hunt, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Nenad Milijas, Ronald Zubar and Adlene Guedioura are all out of contract in 12 months time.
Under Mick McCarthy any player that was either worth a significant transfer fee, or held a future at Molineux would be signed up to a long term contract.
Working players contracts in such a way means that the club is in a much stronger negotiating position when it comes to players possible departures, but since Mick’s own departure, Wolves have been in transition and a new manager brings new ideas.
So what will the future hold for the named players? Well it seems if they are treated in the same way as Kightly then it all depends on what kind of transfer fee the club could recoup by selling them, with Solbakken happy to consider selling if the price is right.
“At the moment he`s part of the plans but he has one year left on his contract and this is the last period of time you can get serious money for him.’ Ståle Solbakken said to the Shropshire Star.
He added: “So we need to consider whether we do a good deal and get a good player coming in, or if the fee is too small and the player is too good – the player is worth more than the offer.
“So is it better for the club in the long term that he stays or goes?
