With ongoing transfer window speculation linking Wolverhampton Wanderers with a move for Mexican international Edson Alvarez, reports recently claimed that we’d counted Ajax’s report bid, with one of our own.

The story does seem to be gaining pace again now and Mexican outlet Record via Sport Witness, have long been on top of it with their coverage and they believe that America, his parent club, are now close to making a decision in our favour as talks have ‘advanced firmly’ on a $13million deal.

Given the original speculation claimed that the 21-year-old centre-half had a release clause of around 7/8million Euros, the story has obviously taken on a life of its own now which can always be expected at this time of year, but the Records most recent update does suggest that we’ve offered more than Ajax to try and get the deal through.

West Ham United are also mentioned as having made a bid as well, and although they state Ajax is his preferred option, you would presume there would be some pull owing to Raul Jimenez.

With the suggestion of a decision this week, we’ll find out if they are right.
