Report: Youngster ‘leaves’ Dutch club to join Wolves
According to Brabants Dagblad (h/t Sport Witness), Justin Hubner has left Den Bosch to sign for Wolverhampton Wanderers. The 16-year-old will represent Wolves at u18 level and should quick progress through the youth ranks given how highly he’s rated.
Hubner is a centre-back who played for Den Bosch’s reserves. He failed to make a first-team appearance for the Dutch outfit, but Brabants Dagblad regard him as the ‘greatest talent’ from their academy.
The report also reveals that Hubner nearly join Bologna after undergoing a trial in Italy last summer, but he opted to stay at Den Bosch. He’s been convinced to move overseas for a new challenge, however, and turned down a new deal with his hometown club in the process.
The lure of Premier League football and having a first-team manager that trusts in youth may have been reasons why he accepted Wolves’ offer. The Midlands outfit are seventh in the table and into the last-32 of the Europa League while Nuno Espirito Santo has given minutes to the likes of Pedro Neto (aged 19), Morgan Gibbs-White (19) and Ruben Vinagre (20).
Wolves will reportedly pay a ‘training fee’ to Den Bosche for Hubner, but the amount isn’t disclosed.
