According to TEAMtalk, Wolverhampton Wanderers have suffered a blow in their ‘approach for’ Franck Kessie, as Newcastle United ‘join (the) race’ for his signature. The 23-year-old has been linked with a move away from AC Milan all, but it remains to be seen if he’ll go.

Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

Kessie joined Milan on loan in from Atalanta in 2017 and impressed enough to be signed permanently in 2019. He’s made a total of 121 appearances in all competitions, scoring 13 goals and making nine assists.

The Ivorian international had an uncertain future at the San Siro as he was short of form earlier in the campaign, but Kessie has since turned things around with the Rossoneri and could be staying.

In addition to the Milan midfielder, Wolves have also been linked with John McGinn (Aston Villa) and Kalvin Phillips (Leeds United) as Nuno Espirito Santo looks to bolster his options in the engine room.

The Wolves manager has Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Romain Saiss and Leander Dendoncker at his disposal, but the latter has been linked with an exit from Molineux and may need replacing.

That being said, it may not be Kessie who comes in. He’s only just joined Milan, may not be made available for sale and hasn’t made any suggestion of wanting to leave.
