Report: Wolves may have to pay £30.1m and £1.89m in wages to sign 23-year-old

According to Tuttosport (h/t Sport Witness), Wolverhampton Wanderers are still showing an interest in Franck Kessie and could make a move for the 23-year-old this summer after his fine form at AC Milan.

Kessie left Atalanta permanently for the Rossoneri after a two-year loan spell and has impressed at the San Siro. The Ivorian international has made 24 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring and creating three goals.

Tuttosport say Kessie struggled for form at the start of the campaign and was nearly loaned out to Inter Milan in January, but he’s since turned things around and is now indispensable to Stefano Pioli.

The 23-year-old’s impressive performances have led to clubs in Europe taking notice and Wolves are one of many said to be monitoring his progress. Kessie is reportedly keen on a move to England too.

Should Wolves make a move for the central midfielder, they’ll have to pay £30.1m to procure his signature. Kessie might demand wages in excess of his £36k-per-week/£1.89m-a-year salary too.

It remains to be seen if Wolves need another player in the engine room, however, as Nuno Espirito Santo already has Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Leander Dendoncker, Romain Saiss, Bruno Jordao and Morgan Gibbs-White at his disposal.
