Wolves are set to open talks with manager Nuno Espirito Santo over a new contract, according to a report from The Sun.

Nuno has worked wonders since being brought to Molineux three years ago, with the 2017/18 Championship title-winning campaign followed by consecutive seventh-place finishes in the Premier League.

The 46-year-old is now entering the final year of his contract with Wolves, but this latest update has now claimed that the Midlands club are trying to secure the long-term future of their influential boss.

It is thought that Nuno is set to be a three-year deal by the club, which is said to be worth a total of around £4million.

Club chairman Jeff Shi is said to be hopeful that the recent club-record signing of Porto attacker Fabio Silva, and the acquisition of Lyon full-back Fernando Marcal – with more signings expected to come – will have shown Nuno that he has the support of the club, and will convince him to put pen to paper on a new deal.

With Nuno having done so much for the club since his arrival, it will be a huge boost for Wolves if they are able to get this deal done.

The former goalkeeper still looks as though he can continue to take the club even further should he be given the resources to do so, which now looks to be happening with the signings that the club are making.

You feel therefore that those in charge at the club may be quietly confident that this deal gets done, which, given the popularity Nuno enjoys amongst the fanbase, will be an announcement that will be greeted with adulation if and when it is made.
