Report: Wolves ‘interested’ in 18 y/o ‘talent’ and ‘work to sign him’ ahead of next season

According to Italian transfer expert Nicolo Schira, Wolverhampton Wanderers are ‘interested’ Luis Henrique and will ‘work to sign him’ this summer. The 18-year-old is described as a ‘talent’, but Wolves will have to battle Juventus and Benfica to bring him to Molineux.

Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

Henrique broke into Botafogo’s first-team this season and has gone on to make two appearances in all competitions, making one assist. The Brazilian wide-man has been an unused substitute on two occasions, so he’s been in the senior squad four times in total and has amassed 123 minutes of playing time.

Vital Wolves have previously highlighted that signing young talent for the future is part of the club’s policy, but it remains to be seen if they can beat out interest from Juventus and Benfica.

Henrique looks to have a bright future, but he would have to earn his stripes in Wolves’ U23s before getting a look-in for the senior squad. The 18-year-old will have Adama Traore, Daniel Podence, Diogo Jota and Pedro Neto standing in his way if he made the switch to Wolves, so he’ll need to be willing to work hard.

Nicolo Schira doesn’t cite Henrique’s asking price in his brief report, but it’s likely to surpass Botafogo’s club-record departure of £8.55m (Vitinho to CSKA Moscow in 2013/14). His market value is £3.6m but the winger wouldn’t be offloaded for so little given his potential.
