Report: Wolves have ‘interest’ in £405k-rated man who’s been released on a free transfer

According to Football League World, Wolverhampton Wanderers have a ‘firm interest’ in Danny Loader and could make a move for the 19-year-old this summer. Wolves came close to procuring signing Loader in January before a deal broke down, but the Midlands outfit can now open talks without Reading getting in the way.

Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

Loader was rated at £3m in May 2019, but his market value has dropped to £405k. The centre-forward’s contract has expired at Reading and Wolves are one of many clubs expected to battle for his signature.

Nuno Espirito Santo has shown an affinity for young players, naming 17 players aged 21 or under in Wolves’ matchday squad at least once this season, so Loader could fit in well.

Raul Jimenez will be Wolves’ first-choice striker in 2020/21, but it remains to be seen who Nuno will call upon as backup. Leonardo Campana and Renat Dadashov are waiting in the wings but have so far been overlooked.

Loader has scored two goals and made one assist in 35 appearances since rising through the youth ranks to the Reading first-team in 2017/18, so he’ll need to improve his output to play for Wolves.
