According to the Daily Mail, Wolverhampton Wanderers are ‘front of the queue’ for Danny Loader. The 19-year-old will be out of contract at Reading this summer and is expected to be on the move.
Wolves have ‘tried to sign’ Loader twice before, so they could return for the highly-rated striker when the transfer window opens. Daily Mail say the Midlands outfit may have to battle Leeds United, Swansea City and Crystal Palace for his signature, however.
Loader rose through the youth ranks to the Reading first-team in 2018/19 and has gone on to make 35 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and making one assist. As per Transfermarkt, he’s represented England at U16 (eight games, four goals), U17 (14 games, six goals), U18 (seven games), U19 (10 games, four goals) and U20 (seven games) level.
Wolves signed 19-year-old striker Leonardo Campana in January and have been linked with James Graham and Joe Gelhardt, so it’s clear they’re planning for the future while strengthening their attack. Nuno Espirito Santo has named 17 players aged 21 or below in the matchday squad at least once this season too, so there’s a clear pathway to the first-team for youngsters.
Whether Wolves can beat out all the interest to bring Loader to Molineux remains to be seen, however.
