Wolverhampton Wanderers have been dealt a blow in the club’s pursuit of Feyenoord winger Cryscencio Summerville, with Voetbal International reporting that the Eredivisie outfit are ‘committed’ to holding talks over extending the wonderkid’s contract.

Summerville is alleged to have been a long-time target for Wolves, as the Molineux outfit have remained attentive to the 18-year-old’s situation throughout the 2019/20 campaign despite seeing a multi-million euro offer rejected last summer.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s scouting department are believed to have closely followed the young striker’s development this term whilst on loan with ADO Ten Haag, where Summerville struck two goals and penned three assists over 21 Dutch top-flight outings.

The Netherlands Under-19 international’s performances away from boyhood side Feyenoord have led to concrete interest from around Europe, however, with Anderlecht, Rangers and Red Bull Salzburg also said to be considering a summer swoop for Summerville.

Feyenoord boss Dick Advocaat is keen to slam the exit door shut, though, with the former Sunderland head coach ‘committed’ to holding talks over offering Summerville a new contract and introducing the teenage forward to his first-team plans when De club aan de Maas reconvene ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

Summerville is currently inside the final year of his current contract at De Kuip and is yet to make a first-team appearance for Feyenoord, for whom he has represented at U17, U19 and U21 levels following his graduation from the Dutch side’s academy.

The 18-year-old’s loan spell with ADO Den Haag saw Summerville build on his five goals and one assist for Dutch second-tier outfit FC Dordrecht which sparked Wolves’ interest a year ago, and gave the £810,000-rated attacker his first taste of senior top-level football.

Where Summerville would fit into Nuno’s plans for next term would remain to be seen if a move is forthcoming in the summer, though would represent Wolves making plans for the future with a long-time target playing a key role in the attacking ranks.

Along with his goals and assists, Summerville squandered two big chances to score in the Eredivisie with ADO Den Haag, per Sofa Score data, while playing on average 5.0 accurate passes in the opposition’s half, making 1.5 successful dribbles and winning 5.0 duels a game.
