Report: Transfer blow for Wolves as West Ham edge ahead in the race for 25-year-old
Wolverhampton Wanderers have been dealt a transfer blow as West Ham United have made a ‘firm offer’ for Morgan Sanson.
The 25-year-old has also been on the radar for Crystal Palace and Newcastle United, but West Ham are the only side to lodge a concrete bid.
According to Le10 Sport, the Hammers put in an offer for Sanson weeks ago that wasn’t deemed satisfactory by Olympique Marseille. L’OM want in excess of £29.7m for the midfielder, so it remains to be seen if United will return.
Sanson has spent three years at the Stade Velodrome, making 127 appearances in all competitions while scoring and creating 38 goals.
The former French u21 international could be a good addition to the Wolves ranks, potentially as a long-term replacement for Joao Moutinho, but it remains to be seen if they’ll match his asking price.
Le10 Sport acknowledge that the Midlands outfit are among the interested parties, but they’ve yet to make an offer for the midfielder.
Where do the club most need to invest in January?
Nuno Espirito Santo does have Leander Dendoncker and Romain Saiss to provide cover in the engine for Moutinho and Ruben Neves, so he may be content with his squad for now.
