Wolves are keen to sign Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo, a report from a print edition of Spanish outlet Sport, via Sport Witness, has claimed.

Todibo has made just five senior appearances for Barcelona since joining from Toulouse last summer, and having spent the second-half of last season on loan in Germany with Schalke, it now looks as though the centre back could be on the move again this summer.

According to the latest reports, Todibo is one of a number of players Barcelona are looking to sell this summer following their disastrous 2019/20 campaign, although the sale of the defender is proving more difficult due to the fact that he tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this summer, and has yet to return a subsequent negative test.

However, it is thought that Wolves have shown the strongest interest in Todibo this summer, in spite of the fact that Barca have reportedly received several offers for the defender from unnamed clubs in Germany.

Barcelona are said to be hopeful of receiving around €20million for Todibo, who has three years remaining on his current contract at the Camp Nou.

Judging by the club record fee they recently paid to sign 18-year-old Fabio Silva from Porto, that amount is unlikely to put Wolves of a move for Todibo, although they will no doubt want a negative test from the defender before they make any official move.

Should that happen, then Todibo could be a reliable alternative to the likes of Conor Coady, Willy Boly and Romain Saiss at the centre of Wolves’ defence, and at such a young age, you feel he is only likely to improve in the coming years, meaning this could yet turn out to be a profitable deal for the club.
