Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

Fiorentina signed Cutrone on an 18-month loan in January, with the option to turn his move permanent if things went well. The 22-year-old has only made nine appearances in all competitions, but he’s clearly made a big impression.

Cutrone is deemed a key player alongside Federico Chiesa and Gaetano Castrovilli, so Director of Football Daniele Pradé wants to sign him permanently.

Tim Spiers on The Athletic’s podcast said Fiorentina were obligated to buy the Italian international if he made a set amount of appearances while on loan, but it appears they already want to retain his services just weeks into an 18-month stint.

It’s good news for Wolves, as they now stand a chance of making back the £16m spent on Cutrone last summer. Prior to leaving the club, the 22-year-old made 24 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals.

As per WhoScored, he racked up 295 minutes of Premier League football before his loan move to Fiorentina, playing only 13 minutes in the top-flight since October 2019.

Cutrone also created two chances, completed 69.5% of his 59 passes, won eight aerial duels (28.5%), made three successful dribbles (60%), had 11 shots with 36% accuracy, gave away five fouls and averaged a tackle (4) or interception (2) every 49 minutes.

Nuno Espirito Santo stuck with Raul Jimenez before the season was postponed due to Covid-19, so Cutrone was forced to leave for more opportunities. The buying option attached to the deal suggests Wolves didn’t want him back, but Fiorentina appear happy to take the 22-year-old off their hands.
