According to Tuttosport via Sport Witness, Juventus ‘could sign’ Raul Jimenez this summer, although they’ll have competition from Arsenal and Manchester United for his signature.
Tuttosport played down the idea of Jimenez being loaned out for two years and instead say that Wolverhampton Wanderers ‘could ask for’ Daniele Rugani and Adrien Rabiot as part of a ‘swap’ deal.
It’s surprising Juventus are being linked with a move for Jimenez with Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain at their disposal, but Ronaldo is in the eve of his career, Dybala is a second-striker who normally plays with a partner and Higuain has fired blanks (five goals in 23 Serie A appearances this season).
Jimenez joined Wolves on loan from Benfica in 2018 and went on to make 44 appearances in all competitions, scoring 17 goals and making eight assists. The Mexican international turned his loan move permanent in 2019 and made another 44 appearances, scoring 22 goals and making 10 assists.
Wolves are unwilling to sell their best assets as they want to challenge for a top-four finish next season, but it does appear Jimenez could be granted a departure. Wolves paid £34.2m for the 29-year-old last summer, so he’s likely to fetch a similar amount. Time will tell.
