According to The Athletic, Willy Boly is ‘on the verge of signing’ a new deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers. The 29-year-old’s contract is up in 2021 and previous talks over an extension were delayed due to his fibula injury in October, but it was always unlikely Boly would leave as he’s shown no desire to play elsewhere.

Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

Boly initially joined Wolves on loan from FC Porto in 2017 and went on to make 37 appearances that season. He turned the move permanent in 2018 and has racked up a further 66 appearances in all competitions. The Frenchman has struggled for playing time this season, featuring only 14 times in the Premier League due to injury, but he’s an important player for Nuno Espirito Santo.

Boly has played in 25 games across the board in 2019/20 and has been on the winning team 13 times (52%) – Wolves have drawn nine and lost three of the remaining games. Boly has missed 24 games and Wolves have only won 10 (42%), drawn seven and lost seven. He’s a key player, so Nuno will be desperate to tie him down for the long-term.
