Report Claims Wolves Are Interest In Former Celtic Target

|

Wolverhampton Wanderers sees yet another new name on the summer transfer rumour mill this week as we are being linked with a move for former Celtic target, Edson Alvarez.

The versatile 21-year-old defender was said to be of interest to Scottish giants Celtic for January’s transfer window but if they had a genuine interest in the Mexican international, it obviously came to nothing.

A report from outlet Mediotiempo this week claimed that there was a big expectation at Club America that Alvarez would make the switch to Europe this year, and we are an obvious candidate owing to Raul Jimenez and the impact he’s had with us in the 2018/19 campaign.

Alvarez apparently can operate in the fullback and centre half positions and it’s the latter position he’s received international caps for, but if we do have an interest we can certainly expect to pay more than Celtic’s reported offer of £5million for him – with his release clause now speculated to be £7.9million.

Certainly doable from our point of view and this may be one to keep an eye on.
