Wolves could complete the signing of defender Faouzi Ghoulam within weeks, a report from a print edition of Italian outlet Corriere del Mezzogiorno has claimed.

It was recently reported that Ghoulam, who is a client of Jorge Mendes, is a target for Wolves, who were said to be in talks over the signing of the left-back, and now it seems as though those discussions are progressing in a positive direction.

According to this latest update, Ghoulam could completed his transfer to Molineux in the next few weeks, in order to allow Napoli to focus on finding a replacement for the left-back.

Ghoulam has seemingly fallen out of favour at Napoli season, having made just nine appearances for the Serie A side across the course of the 2019/20 campaign.

As things stand, there are still two years remaining on Ghoulam’s contract with Napoli, meaning the Italian outfit are in something of a strong position to negotiate any offers that come in for the 29-year-old.

Even so, it does seem as though that could be a chance worth taking for Wolves this summer.

The club are badly in need of some reinforcement to their side with the wait for a summer signing still not at an end, and the full-back role is one that badly needs addressing following the injury to Jonny and departure of Matt Doherty to Tottenham.

Securing a deal for Ghoulam would get them a player who has played at the very highest level to cover that position, and after what has been a frustrating window so far, this would be a welcome show of intent and strength from the club, given the profile of this signing.
