Report Claims Wolves Are Closing In On Potential New Record Signing

Wolverhampton Wanderers smashed their world record transfer signing with the £30million we paid Benfica for striker Raul Jimenez, and if reports this week are to be believed as the transfer deadline nears, we will add £6million to that fee with the capture of Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare.

Outlet La Voix Du Nord (via Get Football News France) have reported that talks continue between both sides on a deal which would initially see the 20-year-old talent head back to Ligue 1 for the coming 2019/20 campaign as the Frenchman wants to have a taste of Champions League football having helped them to a second place finish in 2018/19 – his club obviously don’t want to lose him and the suggestion is we have now agreed to this demand, believing a season of regular action would suit his development better.

A full agreement on the claimed £36million transfer is yet to be reached though, but the report doesn’t explain what the potential hold up is. I would imagine if there is a truth to this one, it’ll sail through ahead of the deadline, as my assumption would be the payment structure.

The interesting thing is here he’s apparently out of contract in 12 months, so we’re moving quickly to avoid complications I would think.
