With real football returning this week as Wolverhampton Wanderers now begin preparing for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Southampton at the Molineux, one piece of transfer speculation that caught my eye this week were claims that Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund were tracking Academy prospect Chem Campbell.

The original report came from Football Insider and they suggested that a Dortmund source had confirmed their interest in the 16-year-old midfielder.

I can’t profess to know much about the lad, if anything, as I’m one of those who doesn’t pay that much attention to Under 23 and below levels at the club, but with Football Association regulations meaning he cannot yet put pen to paper on a professional deal, with the German game becoming more attractive for English youngsters following Jaden Sancho’s rise, it’s probably an easy link to make and there is a high chance they have been scouting him as claimed.

If head coach Nuno Espirito Santo already has him on his radar, hopefully when the Welsh Under 17 international turns 17, the club will quickly announce his deal and fans can look forward to seeing him progress at the club.
