Report: £17.6m signing could leave Wolves, club have ‘enquired’ bout 24 y/o

According to the Mirror, Celtic have ‘enquired’ about Daniel Podence and are keen to sign the 24-year-old on loan next season. Podence has struggled for playing time at Wolverhampton Wanderers and has an uncertain future this summer, but it remains to be seen if Nuno Espirito Santo would let him go.

Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

Podence joined Wolves from Olympiacos for £17.64m in January and has gone on to make nine appearances in all competitions, notching one assist. The Portuguese wide-man has only amassed 221 minutes of football across the board but did start in Wolves’ 3-0 win over Everton and was named Man of the Match.

As per WhoScored, Podence had three shots with 66.66% accuracy, created one chance, whipped in a couple of crosses, made four dribbles and won a penalty, so he had a busy afternoon before being hauled off in the second half.

If Nuno gives the 24-year-old more opportunities off the back of his performance, a loan move away looks unlikely next season. The Wolves manager has Adama Traore, Diogo Jota and Pedro Neto at his disposal, but there’s little benefit loaning out Podence given how small the first-team squad is.

Unless the player requests a move, he’s likely to stay, especially off the back of Sunday’s showing.
