Wolves On The Tweet

“Quality” – Some fans want “outstanding” £14.4m man with more completed passes than Moutinho

Estadio Deportivo recently linked Wolverhampton Wanderers with William Carvalho earlier and supporters seem open to the idea. The 28-year-old could be on his way out of Real Betis this summer and Wolves are on the hunt for a new central midfielder, so fans are hoping he’ll make the switch to Molineux to provide some steel in the engine room.

Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

Carvalho joined Betis for £14.4m from Sporting CP in 2018 and has gone on to make 54 appearances in all competitions, adding five assists. His contract at the Estadio Benito Villamarín still has three more years to run, but interest from the likes of Leicester City, AS Monaco and Sevilla could make up his mind to leave.

As per WhoScored, the Portuguese international has amassed 808 minutes of La Liga football, completed 88.1% of his 50.5 passes-per-game, made 19/23 successful dribbles, won 16/24 aerial duels, made six tackles, blocked seven shots/passes, made eight clearances and made four interceptions.

Carvalho has completed more passes-per-game (44.44) than Joao Moutinho (42.47) and Ruben Neves (40.73), so he could be a good fit under Nuno Espirito Santo. Estadio Deportivo don’t believe Jorge Mendes has a problem working with Pere Guardiola (Carvalho’s representative) either, so a deal may be possible.

Fans want to see it, but do Wolves?

Quality additions to the squad are clearly necessary if we are to challenge for cups and Euro qualification.
