On Saturday evening, most Wolverhampton Wanderers fans were probably simply celebrating victory over Bournemouth as we got back to Premier League football after the November international break, but there was also another reason for celebration – the club had also confirmed Portuguese midfielder Joao Moutinho’s new contract.

His new deal had been in the planning for a while and head coach Nuno Espirito Santo had commented that everything was progressing fine when he met with the media ahead of the game, but the 32-year-old has now signed up until the summer of 2022.
Having significantly impressed since he arrived from Monaco for a snip £5million, 2019/20 has seen him chip in with a goal (Bournemouth) and three assists already and he’s clearly enjoying himself at Molineux.
“It was a very easy decision because I feel very good here. It’s a big club that wants to do something good and I want to do my best to help. We did a great job last season and this season we’ll try to do better. That’s what we’re going to do and I’m going to try 100 per cent to help the club to improve. I feel very good. We won today, a very important win, and I signed a new contract. I’m very happy to help the team today and I hope to help the new for the new two, three years.”
Reaction to his new deal was obvious and he was only going to get further praise following his performance in the game itself.

So true pal, I was speaking to him 3 month ago, and I said to him he is best player ever to play for wolves, and he said he didn’t think so.

Great decision by the player and the club, a good fit and proving to be worth every penny of his £5 million fee a real steal.

What a hero, an absolute dream of a signing. Arguably in the top three all time Wolves midfielders. A model pro and a complete gent. Overjoyed with this news ????????????
